About

Hi! My name is Scott Wyatt and I am the founder of the West Virginia Medicaid Advisors. My first experience with nursing homes was close to 30 years ago. My nana raised five children on her own, as my grandfather died when my mom was twelve. After my grandfather passed my nana was forced back to work. She found a job as a waitress and worked very hard to support her children. Starting her family during the great depression and losing her spouse was very difficult, if not impossible. All of her life she saved and did without to make sure her family had the necessities. Her main priority in life was to make sure her children and future grandchildren would be taken care of. Therefore, she saved all of her money for the next great depression that she feared was right around the corner.

Later in life, she developed dementia and had to go to a nursing home. Our family was told that we must spend down all of her life savings, and that is exactly what we did. People that had our best interests at heart, the financial advisors, and attorneys we consulted confirmed this misinformation. What I learned the hard and expensive way was that wrong information, even from the most well-intentioned, can cause a family to lose a lifetime of savings. Please don’t let this happen to your family.

For the past 17 years, I have been working with families that have loved ones in a nursing home. I have helped thousands of families navigate the complex Medicaid regulations and successfully qualified their loves ones for Medicaid. With proper planning we can do the following:

1)      Get the nursing home bill subsidized by the government and not the nursing home resident’s assets.
2)      Preserve the life savings for the spouse, nursing home resident, or family and make sure the nursing home resident gets           the best quality of care.

I know if you are reaching out to the West Virginia Medicaid Advisors you most likely have a family member headed to the nursing home or already there. Not only are you dealing with the stress of a loved one's health deteriorating, but also with the financial pressures. You may feel overwhelmed and hopeless. I want to assure you that there are legal options. Let us help alleviate the financial pressure so you can focus on the needs of your loved one.

God Bless,
